Day of Competition
Q: What should I bring?
A: Shoes, chalk and climbing clothes are paramount, of course. Additionally, it is very important to ensure your body has the fuel it needs to make it through the competition. A water bottle, a sports energy drink for before or after, and some snacks are suggested. Granola bars, fruit or energy gels are great.
Q: What time should I arrive?
A: We recommend arriving 1 hour before climbing is scheduled to start. Schedules at various gyms may vary, so click “here” (insert link to schedule page) to find the schedule for your local competition.
Q: Can spectators come and watch?
A: Yes. However sometimes there isn’t much extra space depending on the size of the venue so be aware that there may not be much room for spectators with all the competitors in the space. If you are unsure, contact the hosting gym and ask.
Q: Where do I find the schedule for competition day?
A: Upcoming Events page: http://www.tourdebloc.com/tdb/events/
Q: How long do we have to climb?
A: 3 hours. If climbing starts late for any reason, it is still 3 hours.
Scoring and Rules
Q: How does scoring work?
A: Each problem has 3 possible point values on your scorecard. If you top the problem on the first attempt, you get the highest possible point value for that problem. A second attempt top yields fewer points, and any top on the third or more attempt yields the fewest. A completed scorecard is your best six problems.
Q: Where/when are results posted?
A: Full results will usually be posted at the hosting gym within an hour of climbing completion. The finals line up will usually be posted on Facebook shortly after that.
Q:Where can I find out about ongoing news and events?
